Before the Rooster Crows

Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times - Matthew 26:34

Jesus knew that Peter would deny Him. Peter didn't think he was capable of doing this. He replied," even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you."

It doesn't matter how close to Jesus I think I am or how good I think I am. Peter didn't think he was capable of denying Jesus but in the heat of the moment he did. Jesus still loved him. Jesus still said he would build his church upon "this rock." Matthew 16:18 says, "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."

Lord, help me give others the same grace. When my first reaction is to get upset and judgmental, and think "how could they...." remind me of your love and grace for me. When I get upset with myself for the mistakes I make and think ," how could I..." remind me of your love and grace for me. Peter didn't get stuck in his mistake. He didn't try to excuse it. He wept bitterly and then made it right. Help me do the same
